I've never had this problem with the Tapcon® concrete screws. You do have to have the exact size Phillips screw head to avoid the problem with the screwdriver bit slipping in the screw heads, but you could also buy the Tapcon® screws with the hex heads so a socket can be used instead of a screwdriver.
