Thanks gentlemen. I think I will do a bit more research but sounds like I need a small, low angle block plane, and a mid-sized jack plane to just have around the shop for occasional needs. I am not going unplugged, but there have been times when I wished I could just flatten an edge out a bit, or smooth out a rough spot.
