Aloha Lee, Haven't had an ice maker for many years, but I seem to remember that you could turn off the ice maker. I wonder if they turned it off when they installed the filter and forgot to turn it back on, or if they turned off the water valve and didn't turn it back on. Things to consider, Betsy
