Also, it was thought that the act of heating the water would remove or help kill bacteria which may or may not be in the city water. I will tell you one thing, you do *NOT* want to put your hands under the hot water in our house after it has run long enough to warm up the pipe. It is *HOT*. I actually like it that way as it takes a lot less hot water to get the comfortable temp in a shower. They charged a friend $150 to hook up a new refrigerator that has water and ice. A bout a month later he discovered that they hooked it into the hot water line. The only way he found it was he went to get a drink while the dish washer was running. Anyway they wanted another $120 to come out and correct the problem.
