Hey Alex,

Ideally the syntax issue resolves on November 20th and if the other syntax
"wins" the end date for supporting the current one is March 30th 2027.
IETF review is useful, in particular for SDP, and WebRTC should get more of
it rather than shipping the wrong syntax (e.g. rrtr
<https://issues.webrtc.org/issues/42223124> vs rtcp-xr:rcvr-rtt
<https://issues.webrtc.org/issues/516205747>) without anything but code
review.

What I want to avoid for SNAP is carrying two syntaxes for a decade like we
do for the closely related sctpmap attribute: the old one came in M3x-ish,
the "new" syntax
<https://chromiumdash.appspot.com/commit/ddb85ab85b233b4e038d7f0de093199199903a36>
in 2014 which was standardized as RFC 8841 in 2021.
Both Chrome and Firefox still respond to the old version... but I should
gate sctp-init on the new one 🥕

Thanks

Philipp
