I do not run Linux directly on any box, sadly, but I worked on linux and
unix boxes for years, for the last many years, accessing the boxes using
JAWS and Cygwin.
I may have things ass-backwards here, but I am pretty sure that Mike Ray,
on the raspberry-vi list had to rip out Pulse and write some new scripts
in order to get speak-up to run correctly on the Raspberry PI.
Just throwing some wood on the fire.
