Living in suburban central New Jersey beneath the shade of old, tall oaks and,
yes, often surrounded by fast-driving motorists . . . having oft-visited roots
in both upstate New York and North Carolina . . . and being near enough to both
New York City and Philadelphia to experience their culture, excitement, soaring
buildings, and diversity, I feel fortunate to enjoy all of these "worlds", if
it even makes sense to separate them in such a way. There's beauty and richness
in each of these places that I and my family love. And this summer many of us
(from New York City and Iredell County and places beyond and in between ) will
gather at the Grandfather Mountain Games.

BTW, did anyone see Ralph Stanley in Entertainment Weekly a week or so ago?

I wasn't trying to be ugly, I just wanted to let you know that not all city
folk are inconsiderate like the ones you ran into. I looked at that email
again and I realize now that I may have sounded kind of hateful. I'm sorry if
I came off harsh--I can and do appreciate your feelings.
