Vern Williams was the man.  You can say he's the west coast equivalent of
Joe Val.  Rick Shubb & Herb Pedersen got their start playing with Vern &
Ray.  

They recorded a 4 song 45rpm EP for Starday in 1961 (SEP 175) under the name
Carroll County Country Boys, & there's an album of theirs from the '70's
kicking around called ³Sounds From the Ozarks² on Old Homestead (OHW -
10001).
