OK, there is critical mass now.

I have covered in my blog FOAF and use in science, with the latest
blog in publishing your publication list in RDF format online, and how
to link it from your FOAF:

My first code is based on Strigi, as that will allow me to full-text
index HTML pages and even chemical data files too. Idea here is
queries like find me a friend-of-a-friend that worked on a compound
similar to those in my FOAF interests.

However, because everything is in RDF nowadays, we can't work our way
around throwing in some SPARQL too.
