Hi all!
Just a brief note of introduction. I am John Overington, a newly
appointed team leader at the EMBL-EBI in the UK. I work alongside
Chris Steinbeck, and our groups will collaborate closely on a number
of projects, all of them Open Access. My background was originally at
large Pharma, then a small biotech, and now as an academic.
My group looks after a series of SAR and pharmaceutical databases -
StARlite (med chem SAR), CandiStore (Clinical Development compounds),
DrugStore (launched drugs). We also do some KDD on top of these trying
to develop methods for better target selection and lead discovery. We
are also interested in drug discovery against neglected diseases. Some
more details of our work can be found on the group blog at www.chemblog.org
(pronounced chembl-og ;) )
Best wishes,
jpo
