Have you guys considered using Planet as a Chemistry blogspace
aggregator? It's pretty easy to setup and scales well. Ubuntu[1],
GNOME[2], and Debian[3] are some common examples that I know of.
Maintenance is always a difficulty with these things but in Ubuntu for
example, we have a VCS branch that has the configuration and any
Ubuntu Member can push changes to that branch, which Planet
automatically pulls from every 10min or so.

The downside I guess is that it's not very fancy or social, it just
aggregates people's posts and provides a "skin" on them.
