Thanks very much for your contribution which is extremely useful.

I agree that it's extremely difficult to discuss this as hypotheticals. I
though it could be answered relatively simply - I now see that it is more
complex than I thought.

The problem is not of my making. I have been asked to agree to a licence
change for reasons I don't understand and I was asked to keep it
confidential. This already makes me uncomfortable and I asked if I could ask
the question with anonymisation and hypothetically.

This might have worked but it hasn't. I am going back to ask for a
permission to expose the complete problem to the community. I think only by
airing it openly can I get a balanced view.

It is a matter of wide interest and I feel it should be taken to the
community.
