Hi all,

seems like I missed this discussion completely.
Just stumbled accross it because I was creating the usual BlueObelisk
dinner wiki page.

My very personal opinion about publicising the blue obelisk dinner
beyond the blue obelisk mailing list and getting more people involved is
that this is a very bad idea .

Again, this is my very personal opinion :-)

I think, the meetings are just good as they are. There are plenty of
opportunities to network in more party-like settings at the ACS
meetings, and I certainly don't want to be responsible for organising
blue obelisk parties and either getting funding for it or collecting the
money from the participants. Would someone is like to do this? Unless
someone jumps up and takes on this responsibility, I think the topic is
settled :-)

As has been pointed out by others, the current arrangements for the blue
obelisk dinners do not scale easily, and even at the moment, when it
comes to paying the bill in the end, things can become pretty embarrassing.

For now I have taken the freedom to create the usual page for collecting
the information about the dinner:

Cheers,

Chris
