I think that I would prefer that the snapshots be stored as named files in the
a sub directory in the shard if it's not too hard. It just feels a little
heavy weighted to have the snapshots need an index writer to store the fairly
small amount of data. I don't really have a good reason to not use the PSDP,
just feels heavy. What are your thoughts?
