Hmmmm....lessee....on my E36 M3:

K&N Filter - negligible HP gain
Debaffled airbox - negligible HP gain
Euro Snorkel - negligible HP gain
AA Exhaust -negligible HP gain
White corner lights - negligible performance gain
White side lights - negligible performance gain
White rear lights - negligible performance gain
Dinan Strut Brace - negligible performance gain
Short Shifter - negligible performance gain (but more fun...)

Damn, damn, damn. Guess that makes me a riceboy!! :-(((

IMO, Jag's are already fully "gauded" out by the factory. Way too much
chrome, wood, and fancy decorations everywhere. Even the logo is butt ugly.
Yuck.

Chester,

I agree with you that most of the cars that I see on the road that, as
everyones been saying, have a "riceboy" look are ugly and lack good taste.
One thing that you have to remember is that not everyone has enough money to
buy an M3. So if they like the way that the M3 looks I don't think that
there would anything wrong with them putting M3-style bumpers/wings on the
car. The only thing that bothers me is when they put the M3 logo on the
back. When poeple do that they are attempting to trick everyone into
thinking that they have an M3. Thats just insulting.

When I bought my 318i I needed a car with a warranty, was fun to drive,
reliable and got good gas mileage. I probably could have bought a new
accord or camry but I like the styling and handling of the BMW, so i bought
one.

If I want to color code my trim, put a (useless, as you've stated) touring
wing on the back, put a vinyl strip across my windshield, have one wiper and
put a sport suspension in, why should anyone else care? I know that my car
is not going to make any land speed records or corner half as good as an M3
but its fun to drive and i like how it looks. I don't mean that I've
totally given up on engine mods, I plan on getting a cold air intake and a
Dinan or Jim C. chip, but to me the way something looks is almost as
important as how it handle and rides. Believe me, no one on this list would
be all proud of their cars, driving them all over the place if it looked
like an 87' doge omni. (My car was hit in the back by one of these this
morning) (for the few people that would, when I said no one, I didn't mean
you =))

Yeah, well, after I sent my quip, I was privately composing a message
to help you, but with my long workdays lately, I wasn't going to send
it until this weekend when I had a chance to look up part numbers for
you.

But since you're so oversensitive to my vaguely general teasing, I
won't bother to waste my time to help you. You're like the countless
folks that go to my website and ask me questions while providing a
whole single sentence full of "clues" to help me help them.

Considering the sketchiness of the details of what you posted to the
UUC digest, you must not have actually been looking for help...

The fact that you consider the car "awesome" because you finally got
around to dealing with the scheduled maintenance that you were
probably too lazy to read the stinking owner's manual to learn about
will forever make me giggle. Get over it.

And enjoy your 353i, [sic]

Personally I would jump all over it. I can't even find a dealership in
Southern California who will take a deposit on the car. Refundable or
otherwise. In this area, the dealerships seem to be looking at the 89k E39
M5 auctions on ebay and considering doing the same with the E46 M3. What I
was originally told by Sterling BMW in Newport Beach Ca was a waiting list
for the E46 M3 is now an "interest list" which in no way guarantees delivery
of a specific car.

Since then, I have called three other dealerships in the area, none of which
will reserve a car for anyone. If anyone knows of a dealership in the
Western United States who will reserve a specific car in return for a
deposit..... Please let me know.
