Two ways that you might want to look into - one, you can use a harness bar without harnesses, just to mount the camera. Second, I remember seeing a mount that went between the front headrest brackets, with a couple of legs that extended to brace it front-to-back. Unfortunately, I don't remember who makes it... As a newbie to the big track it was one less thing to concentrate on at first and I learned a lot. The down side was that you have to know your car well enough to have it kick-down at the right spots. Hit it early and it unsettles the car in the turn. Hit it late and the guys behind you are looking for a passing point-by. Your 540i will really fly as you know so don't worry about what ANYONE says or teases you about in the pits. Believe me I had to endure the wrath of the BUBBA'S! Tranny WARNING: This harsh treatment to the automatic may piss off your car! My tranny was a recent rebuild and it still took fits of slipping at the end of the day. It gets hot....real hot. Make sure it's serviced and healthy before doing this. You will want a stick shift afterwards but hey, have some fun. Email privately for kick-down tricks. Turn-in topic: This is the reason why I wouldn't instruct at the track! Students that are not sure exactly what does what when they feel some understeer just may lift in a sweeping turn instead of planting the rear end in a balanced fashion. This scares me. Some required actions (brakes/throttle) goes against all conventional wisdom at times. Just ask you local racer about some of the crap he/she does at times. Your car has a handling character...learn it. The best way is to train on the skid pad. A big ol' WET ONE! You will learn so much. BTW, I understood exactly what Rob was staying about unloading the front. He meant it in a very fine balanced way, not to any extreme. Then again what could we know. We both drive "The Ultimate Grocery Getter.....M5"! You can change a slight understeer into neutral-to-oversteer handling very easily with the gas pedal. The display is limited to either 8 descriptive characters (useless, since by the time the title appears, it's obvious what song is playing) OR the CD and track number, OR the track time. I have three gripes with this unit. There is no clock function (superfluous if your OBC functions, which mine doesn't), the display gives VERY minimal information, and I find that it's too easy to skip to the next disk instead of skipping to the next track. If you do accidentally skip disks instead of skipping tracks, it takes about 30 seconds of fiddling to get back to the track and song you wanted. The thummer remote helps somewhat, but even it has some odd quirks. The unit sounds very good, looks right in the dash, and there are a lot of bells and whistles I like, but I think if I were to do it all over again I'd look a lot more closely at mid-line Sony stuff because of the ergonomics and informative display. Then, IF the Sellers tells you to fluff off the car wasn't what you thought it was anyway; IF he offers a mechanic to you to for the PPI the mechanic could be one of his cover-up partners helping the Seller & taking a little more of your $ in the process. IF you make the time then Contact this List for someone in that faraway town to comment on a good local mechanic. OR ask the local Dealer's Service Manager for a PPI shop that he would recommend.
