While waxing my e36 328i last summer I accidently spilled a couple of drops of Liquid Glass on the inside door panel (the door was open). I noticed it at the time but didn't do anything about it. It's a light gray interior and the wax/polish is light blue. I'm now trying to see if I can remove it but it doesn't seem to want to budge. Any suggestions on how I can get rid of it? Turns out, the shop spots "extreme wear" (haven't seen it myself yet) to the cam and timing chain--they say the gears are worn to points (don't all gears have points?), and in addition, the rails and oil pump need replacing--for another $600 (I know, I shoulda sold the car and started saving up for the Euro M5 Touring with buffalo leather instead--too late now). Does this range of problems accompanying a mid-mileage car sound reasonable? Isn't the big 6 the engine that keeps on giving? The mech gave me alternative to seal the engine back up without this additional work (and the new head gasket, of course), with the warning that the chain could snap, bust injectors, etc.--not a comforting thought. Are there any similar experiences along these lines, and/or suggestions about what I might look for in a visual inspection to the chain or cams? TIA for any thoughts. It's not a miss, but a hesitation as you accelerate. I have replaced plugs, dist. cap & rotor, adjusted the valves, cleaned the TB & ICV, replaced vacuum hoses, checked for any vacuum leak and still have this hesitation. Next on the list is O2 sensor & fuel regulator. So, reading some of the forum messages & archives, I am/was suspicious of the correct operation of the O2 sensor so tonight, before leaving work, I disconnected the O2 sensor. Guess what? No hesitation. The 'check engine' light didn't come on until 3 miles later, but the car ran great. Now, I need to know if anyone can tell me if my assumption that the O2 sensor is bad is correct or not. Don't let me down guys.
