Full details here: http://forums.roadfly.com/bmw/e46m3/forum.php?postid=97523 2001 e46 M3 coupe 2446 miles, perfect condition Loaded with every option but the sunroof (and metallic paint). - -specifications- Imola Red Black Nappa Leather Cold Weather Package Power Seat Package Harmon Kardon system Navigation System Xenon lights Park Distance Control 6-disk CD changer (trunk) Rubber floormats Cargo Net BMW Aluminum pedals BMW alarm Rear Spoiler deletion K&N drop-in air filter (OEM original included) 19" BBS Challenge wheels with Yoko AVS Sport tires I am asking $57,500 or best offer for the car. Included are my 19" BBS Challenges with Yoko AVS Sport tires. This is about $2000 less than I paid for the car, given taxes and etc. And technically less than MSRP given the value of the wheels/tires (retailing at over $3000 from TireRack.com) . Full pictures of everything including at http://bmw.jedinite.com. I need to sell this car ASAP. Please email me directly ( mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] )if you are interested or have anything to discuss. I'd prefer to keep traffic off the list and in the semi-privacy of email, avoiding the potential WOB for everyone else. jedinite http://bmw.jedinite.com "...there is no try" ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 03 Jul 2001 21:51:21 -0400 From: "Steven Reed" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: [uuc] <E30> Half shaft separation >Does anyone have any theories as to why this happened? My bolts didn't shear, they'd been torqued down properly, etc etc. Chalk it up to another weird E30-ism and add it to your list of things to check on every 6 months or so. :) Steve _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 03 Jul 2001 21:53:27 -0400 From: Don Eilenberger <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: RE: [uuc] Coolant smell Pingger passes us a mystery.. >Gruppe, > >After some spirited driving this morning on the way to work (read - this >MB was riding my tail) I smell the distinct odor of coolant coming from >somewhere. More than 1/2 of the fluid in it lives in the torque converter, which doesn't have a drain. You would have to do it multiple times to get a goodly percentage of synthetic in it, and without disassembly/draining, you'll never get 100%.. Dunno if anyone here has done it, but one lister I know of told me personally that he'd had his trans flushed by one of the transmission shops that have a machine to circulate fluid through the transmission, and he was surprised at the amount of dirty stuff that came out. In this case, I believe they hook the machine up to the cooler fittings and run the fluid through. Dunno how much gets up to the torque converter if the engine isn't running (Brett? Comments?) but it might be something to consider. Seem to remember putting 3+ quarts in BOHICA (my old '85 535iA) when I drained it/changed the filter/refilled it a few times. I believe (memory - old memory) that the total capacity is something like 8+ quarts.. Measure what comes out - it's a BIG clue as to how much to put back in. Have extra on hand - you can always return it.. Are these spec'd as one-time use? Lots of critical bolts on BMW's are.. and some come with locktite on the bolts (if you reuse them - you need new locktite..) Just checked the TIS - and it recommends replacing the bolts/washers, they are apparently one-time use. Capacity dry fill: 8.8 litres Capacity oil change: 3.0 litres You get considerably less than 1/2 changed without full disassembly and draining.. The best, and most direct were of course from Brett A. Hack-hack-hacking at the black plastic there with wire nippers was something that I probably wouldn't have thought to do on my own. I had a couple red LEDs soldered in there in place of the light bulbs in just a few minutes. Results? Just peachy. The LEDs are dimmable with the dash control, which was better than I expected. And as my friend was fond of saying, "LEDs have no intrinsic failure mechanism!" The exact wavelength of light projected may be a few nm off from standard, but if you're riding in my car and you mention that, I'll probably leave you by the side of the road to hitchhike for a ride in a "real" BMW. ;-P - -- "It is an honor to be Cookie Monster." -Sesame Street spokeswoman Audrey Shapiro ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 3 Jul 2001 16:02:05 -0700 From: "Kevin Kelly" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: [uuc] Re: <MT TV> Z06 vs M3 vs Boxster S Someone posted results of a recent test: >Vette Z06 4.24 >M3 4.6-something? >Boxster S 5.32 It's a great day for people who like fast cars when a 5.32 second 0-60 time is a distant third place. They hook it up to the cooler lines with the engine running and cycle about twenty quarts through in the flush process. They claim it replaces that stuff in the torque converter. I, however, don't really understand the flow of fluid into and from the torque converter. I believe that torque converter had a little plug on the shell near the edge, so maybe that one could be drained. They take samples before, midway and after the flush and the difference is remarkable, from highly dirty brown to bright cherry red. They centrifuge the samples and show you what spins down, also. $54 here in Baltimore. The concerns I had about disturbing resting metal paricles by this process was explained away by the insight that the fluid flow during this procedure is no different than what the transmission sees in daily operation.
