If it's a valve cover gasket easy fix. If oil pan gasket, also relatively easy on the V8. If a hose or connection, for the most part also easy to fix. The first order of business is to find out where the leak is. The cable to the rt back section has come out of the motor. Pushing on the section just moves the gearing through it's motion with no resistance. The motor is toward the left of the bottom cushion. Just follow your instructions and fix the bloody thing. These cable problems are one of the consistent problems that slowly but surely make me wonder if BMW has a future. Year after year , model after model tha problem recurs. Hi All: Having had a set of Euro E36 headlights self-destruct (aiming became impossible- high beam too high, and low beam too low and bulbs going out every two months.), I need to replace the set. I was going to buy another H1 setup from Bekkers, but was considering the newer H7 style. I had heard from another digester that the H7 is a newer design and is *much* better than the older H1 design. Can anyone confirm/deny this? My four questions are: 1)Is the H7 Euro headlights a newer/better design than the H1 Euro lights? 2)Can anyone recommend a good 100W H1 bulb that doesn't blow up in two months? 3)Does anyone know where I can pick up a set of the H7 Euro lights for an E36? 4)Does anyone know where I can pick up a Euro headlight adjustment kit for the above. John, Thanks for your post. �I was feeling guilty because after all of your help, and the advice of a few others, I gave into the "dark side" and decided to buy the light stick from a dealer. �At first, I thought, "$40 for a pair of $2 bulbs and little soldering, that's ridiculous! �I can do it myself!" �To make a long story short, after SEVERAL trips to Radio Shack to get a "better bulb", bad solder jobs (I live in an apartment, so no garage with an electrical outlet to do this easily), dim displays, numerous attempts to dis- and re-assemble my dash, etc.etc....I was driving by a dealer Saturday at 4:20 (parts closes at 4:30), I said "screw it!". �Went in and bought it - but ONLY $33 ($27 after a CCA DISCOUNT!!). �The amazing thing was that this was the MB-BMW dealer in THE HAMPTONS - and no other dealer within 40 miles; I thought it would be at least $45-50! �I also needed the dome light bulb, which he said was a $15 halogen, but he said that I could get away with a $1 regular bul! ! b he had!! Net result: MANY hours spent trying to save a few bucks. �Moral of the story: REPLACE, don't fix the OBC light stick! � BTW, a great piece of advice from Brett Anderson: Trim back the side plastic on the edge of the back of the dash (holding the OBC) so that you can just pull the light stick out. �Otherwise, it is ANOTHER 30 minutes of disassembly to take off the OBC to get to the stick.
