I'm going to throw in my 2 cents, even though several have suggested the
main relay, which BTW, Mike Miller wrote an article about replacing the main
relay AND the fuel pump in the April Roundel.

This sounds similar to my experience with a dying alternator. Systems shut
down one-by-one, first the radar detector, then the ABS, then...my car died.
The fact that the car starts after sitting awhile is lets the battery
recharge.

Depends on the type of Moly, if it is organic Moly, yes, if it is
inorganic Moly, the answer is no.

organic moly is a high quality Moly, soluble in oil and cant be filtered
out and doesn't collect on cam lobes, inorganic moly in its base form
has about the same consistency as a bar of soap, can be filter out with
a good filter and is commonly found in moly greases, but can be found in
some oils and additives as well.

Yeah, there was some damn funny stuff in there!

It was really nice to see so much contribution from so many people we all
(or most of us anyway) recognize, know, or have met.

It was nice to meet Tammi Hull and Bill Arnold as well as Scott Blazey, Russ
Wiles, Mark O'Dell, and others too! Glad everyone had a good time, I'm
already looking forward to next year!

We had a blast just watching out at MIS, maybe Carlos and I will run it next
year...whaddya think there Kartlos? ; )

Yeah that *was* fun, I think we should enter my E21 330i and stuff in
your spare S14! (make it a 323i) We could run E21 vs E21 against the

?? Organic means to me a carbon based molecule. Moly is molybdenum
disulfide. No carbon. Or do you mean grown using only manure as
fertilizer?

There are many grades mostly related to particle size. Dow Corning has a
microsize powder whose largest particles are only a few microns.

Carlos and Co,

I too run the hawk HPS, and seeing as I bought the Dirty E30 for the cost of
a brake job, I have a basis for comparison. THEY SQUEAK LIKE HELL.
Did I mention the squeak? But I have no desire to add anything to them, it
seems to lessen as i drive the car harder (well, DID until it's current
ailments)
I kinda like the way heads turn downtown when these puppys start to make
noise. My Co workers always know when i am on time late etc. Everyone there
thinks I 'race' since I talk about the Auto-X's.
Just my exp, yours may vary with an E30 than is not an Evo II ; )

Cheers and beers,

1) AMAZING how many of us have learned about main and fuel pump relays the
hard way - BTDT too!!

2) Regarding NH <<<<Be prepared to get raped by N.H. when you pay your
bill, to the tune of 25% extra in taxes. Live Free of
Die, my ass.>>>>

My wife comes from NH and all her family. We go back in summers so our kids
can get to know the wife's side of the family uncles, aunts, cousins — . In
fact about 2 years ago we bought a summer place up around Laconia in the
"Lakes Region." The last two summers, when I was on vacation back there and
not busy investing a ton of "sweat equity" and feeding the local wildlife
(AKA deer flies and mosquitoes) - I learned a lot about the area. See, NH
has no sales or income tax. Tourism is a major or maybe the main industry --
so the name of the game is tax the He- - out of things that tourists need and
do -- like motel rooms, restaurants, entertainment . . . Get the picture - I
am starting to think the whole state is one BIG TOURIST TRAP!!! Considered
attending Oktoberfest, but timing for my VACA was wrong. I was out there for
3 weeks and just got home a week ago. Talked to the wife about wondering
what we could rent out our separate apartment over the detached garage for
during Oktoberfest. 2 BR w/bath, kitchen and living room dining area.
Located about 50 miles north east of Manchester. It is off exit 21 from I 93
and Waterville is exit 28 - so between Waterville and the Speedway down by
Concord. Oh well - If I personally knew who - - maybe some future year.

Subject: Re: [uuc] Emergency Suspension Help Needed! Update

Mike (chief wrench) and I completed the suspension and steering
replacement and upgrade tonight at 1:30 a.m., well ahead of the 5:30
a.m. drop dead time.

I am signed up to use this car at the o'fest for the safety schools and
it needs a valve adjustment and alignment before we leave for New
Hampshire. The last available appointment at Curry's Automotive was
today, leaving me in the stress mode.

We replaced: Tires, went with Bridgestone RE71 in 245-40/17 on Dinan
Rims. Idler arm, steering box, center link, tie rods, upper control arms
aluminum lower control arms, upper strut bearings, rubber bushing for
the anti-roll bar (took as much time as the strut installation), 750i
bushings milled by Steve D'G.

Went with the M-tech springs, the two dot "red" spring pads, and the
stock Boge struts (last new two in the world). M-tech springs did not
lower ride height as advertised. Still have an inch above the tire.

Used the Dinan Camber plates. Got the information on installation from
Andy in their tech support group. Wrong information, but I learned from
talking with him anyway. I installed the spacer ring on top of the
oblong plate, rather than on top of the strut bearing hat like he
advised to. I got good clearance in the "already too small" strut tower.

New BMW strut bearing had bigger holes in the top and old caps didn't
fit.

Replaced the motor mounts so long as I had the subframe out. Waste of a
$100 as the replacement mounts from the dealer were older date codes
than the ones in the car (1984 for the blue hexagon one!). So if motor
mounts harden with age, the replacements are already harder than the
installed ones.

Replaced every fastener with factory hardware. The folks at Russel BMW
put up with a lot from me . . . Overnight shipped most of this stuff to
me at no extra cost as vehicle was off road (VOR).

Put a new filter in the reservoir. Be careful ordering this part, there
are two suppliers of these assemblies and the filters are different
between manufacturers. I have the ZF unit with the small knurled nut on
top, Found I couldn't replace it with the larger white plastic knob from
the Beteler unit.

Had so much fun, I'll do the rear rubber parts after o'fest.
