you missed the part where he said "around 20 K Canadian".

that would translate into "likely a decent deal" in real money.

Oh, I thought that was the temperature. Knew it was cold up there, ya see.

Sure, that's it. My story, and I'm sticking to it.

>From www.oanda.com:
Wednesday, January 29, 2003
1 US Dollar = 1.52850 Canadian Dollar
1 Canadian Dollar (CAD) = 0.65424 US Dollar (USD)

Median price = 1.52820 / 1.52850 (bid/ask)
Minimum price = 1.52380 / 1.52430
Maximum price = 1.53630 / 1.53710

So, "around 20K Canadian" would be US$13,085. :-)

I assume you just didn't see the "around 20K Canadian" part...?

Neil - not the seller, so the translation above does not constitute an offer to sell
(or buy)

Ahh, so 20 Kelvin Canadian, is that something like 13.1 Kelvin absolute?

After a round of feedback (thank you) and research on the Safety Devices cages I
inquired about last week, I've decided to not go that route, and instead seek out a
full-fledged weld-in cage.

Spoke with a guy from TCK today, and he essentially said their cage fabricator was one
of, if not the best, in the country. Now, from what I recall about their pre-fab
cages in the glory days when they actually used to make them, that may very well be
true. Has anyone had a custom cage built by them, or know anyone who has? Are they
right up there in terms of quality, design, construction and fit & finish?

I'm in New England, so if I decide to go with them, it'll have to be because of a
significant difference in quality, as they're 700 miles away from me. Anyone know any
other northeastern cage builders that do good work? I guess one full day's drive is
about my limit for distance from home.

Appreciate any advice you can give.

Great boots? Hah! Okay, show of hands, how many had this happen to them.

I was skiing at Vail Monday on my own for the final day after skiing with my
(now ex) girlfriend on nothing but green trails and catwalks for the
previous two days. I head out for the blue trails where I fit best and toss
down a couple of bumpless black runs. Part way down one very steep black
run and trying to avoid the bumps that were there I stamped into one bump
particularly hard to slow myself down. I heard crunching. ?? Okay, finish
skiing down and hit the town for some lunch. Walking in my boots I'm
thinking there's an awful lot of gravel being crunched under them.

Go back and ski two more hours, I'm getting stronger and faster and more
confident with practice and hammering some more black runs. In traversing
between sections at Vail on a (blue!) catwalk I find I can't keep my skiis
running true on flat straight sections. I hit a couple more runs and it's
getting worse. Figuring my legs were more tired than I realized I called it
quits at only 1:30 (skiing since 9 with 0 wait on all lift lines and no
resting). Crunched my way into the rental place to return my skiis and
poles, get my street shoes and try to remove my boots. BOTH boots are
shattered down the back and around both sides along the top of the sole
plate. Badly shattered. That's been the crunching. I took them off in two
or three pieces each.

These were Heierlings that I had bought way back in 1988. Plastic has a
shelf life.

Vail was just awesome this time out. It was fairly abandoned, the weather
must have been into the low 40s on Monday, I literally skiied down the
hills, turned a couple times and before I ever stopped the lift would hit me
in the butt. Conditions were nearly perfect for me with most of my favorite
runs well groomed and well covered. All lifts were open and running. Damn
I hated to leave but without boots...

Geeeze

I did a search today on "M3 Splitter" to try to get a feel for the design of the LTW
splitter unit, and the following website came up:

http://www.absmotorsport.com/other_makes.html

They're in the UK, so I know the shipping would probably be $$$$, but they seem to
have a good number of lightweight body panels, doors, hoods, trunks and yes, bumpers
and splitters.

Here's the thing - they all appear VERY reasonably priced. Now, lest we fall into the
"around 20K Canadian" debate again, I know these prices are in GBP, so you have to
multiply them by about 1.64, but nevertheless the prices are quite good. For
instance, a bolt-on, non-adjustable M3 LTW replica splitter (just a fascia, not a full
undertray and everything - but I think this should still provide some downforce at
track speed, right?) is only about $102.

Anyone bought anything here? I'm sure the quality isn't like MA Shaw or anything, but
then, neither are the prices.

Thanks for any input you might have,

Neil - 1994 325is
