Mentioning Mike Valentine reminded me to give Valentine a plug for sending me new suction cups for free when I called to order a new set last week. I think it is a class act when a company gives away inexpensive items to repeat customers. When the suction cups came in the mail I got two sets. In addition to bigger ones the same size as the ones that came with my detector there was a set of smaller suction cups. Any idea what the smaller sized suction cups are for? Does anyone know if California cops are using Laser? I've heard that even if they are all the laser detector feature does is tell you that you are about to get a ticket. I've been thinking about programming the V1 so it won't pick up laser (I did this for X band the day I got it). In the past the only thing that set off the laser detector was that big sign on Hwy. 101 in Redwood City, my digital camera and the Z8 tail lights. Now every time I get behind a late model mid sized GM SUV the laser detector goes off every time they hit the brakes. Pop the plastic cap out of the centre of the tensioner pulley and use a socket to rotate the pulley. I'm sure you can do better if you try. One tip - the dust cover is much more easily assembled to the bumb stop when they are outside of the car and you can get some good leverage. This also means that you need to assemble them to the shock when it is off the vehicle. When I did mine the bottom of the shock was mounted and I couldn't get enough clearance to assemble them and then put them over the shock rod. As a result, I had to slip the dust cover on and then the bump stop, then get the cover over the ridge of the bump stop. This was very difficult to do. If you're not replacing the shock, I guess you'll just have to struggle. The bump stop on the MCoupe is a small rubber ring that floats on top of the main shock housing. The dust boot attaches to a washer that is sandwiched between a ridge in the piston, and the shock mount. If it's making noise at that point, it's because the mount has failed, or the main nut is loose. Anybody heard of these before? Any idea what range of adjustments they allow and what fitments they are available for? Vendors who sell them? Also, I know that E46 control arms are very different from the E30/E36 parts. Is the rest of the E46 suspension also different, as in are any of the parts interchangeable with either E36s or E30s (besides from rear shock mounts) - sways, springs, etc? We lent the car to a car-less friend yesterday. She refueled the car with the key in the ignition (not running, just in the ignition).....whammo....instant CE light. [EMAIL PROTECTED]@!!!!!!!! Well at least now I can find out what the f'in codes are for this thing. First a friend reset the light....then forgot to check the codes. Then G.F. took the car from where we got it....also for some reason didn't process the code!?!?!?!? A very good example of the "if you want something done right..." adage. Couple of other kwestions on this hunk while I'm at it.... One-touch windows go down alright (pass side is slow), but have a tendency to stop part way on the way up? Is the one touch relay in the switch itself or the fuse box? How od you replace the bulbs in the right side of the instrument binnacle and the backlight for the factory radio? What causes the stupid factory alarm to develop a mind of it's own? It seems to go off on a random basis (usually sometime around 3-4 morning when people are trying to sleep). I'm now finding out that despite being a factory alarm, it's one of the apparently many things not covered under the CPO...... Thanks a lot, Lee->appreciating E30's more & more everyday......
