I have disassembled and cut bump stops on E34 Bilsteins. Its not hard, but

My first suspension kit was an H&R/Bilstein setup from Turner. It badly
needed the trimming. Since then I have neither the springs nor the shocks
on my car. The Bilsteins are performing excellently on my wife's stock
suspension 525iT.

Subject: [uuc] BMW CPO Question

The lease will be up on my 2000 330i this fall. I love the car and have
less than 21k on it right now and I am thinking about keeping it. My purchase
at end of lease price is well below the current market value (we will have
to see how it stacks up later in the year).

My idea is to CPO the car to get the extra warranty. Plus as a BMWCCA member
I can get $500 of the CPO "fee" back as a reward.

Questions:

Do I have to return the car to the selling dealer at the end of the lease?
I got mine from Taylor BMW in Augusta (and got a great deal) but see no
need to drive it back there for the turn in or the CPO.

I assume others have done this before - I have heard about it quite a bit.
The cost should be around $1000 + any parts/labor needed to make my car pass?

Will BMW give me a reward for buying a CPO car I already lease? If it matters
I didn't quality for a reward when I first leased the car. Dummy me had not
been a member long enough before I got it. I don't see anything in the fine
print of the check request that would exclude this.

On a related note, it APPEARS that if you lease your new or used BMW via
anyone other than BMW financial services you are disqualified from the
reward! "Vehicles purchased or leased through a 3rd party (i.e. brokers, lease
companies, etc.) do not qualify."

Thanks!
Dennis

How? the E-36 struts do not have the nut on the bottom to remove the
cylinder like the M3 strut?

Not going on ED anytime soon, but I'll ask anyway...

Do European gas stations accept credit cards (MC,
Visa, AmEx)? I assume they do - everyone else does,
except that luggage store in Venray, Netherlands.

Only time I ever bought gas on my Euro business
trips I was trying to deplete my supply of Dutch
Guilders so I didn't bother with the plastic.

I am asking $9,000 for my 97 318i. This price is well below any of the car
site trade in estimates (NADA, Edmunds) This car is very clean. I am a very
motivated seller. I just purchased a Pocono house and I am going to need a
truck to transport materials.

1997 318ia Arctic Silver (door moldings painted), 4 door, automatic,
sunroof, cruise control, BMW Alarm, Heated seats (driver and passenger),
Fold down rear seats, 105K highway miles, second owner (since 13k), All

Subject: [uuc] Keyless entry connection?

Brett/Gruppe

I literally took apart all of the wiring and harness connectors in the space behind
the glove box to gain access to the very back part of the area closest to the fire
wall. Still no green or black BMW OEM prewired harness to connect my BMW keyless
remote entry module. I literally pulled the wiring harness for the windows, locks, and
virtually every thing in my way to gain access, and still no remote harness connector
to be found. This is the first BMW that says it's prewired and not have any evidence
that it ever had one. Was that an option on a '97 328iS? I've always found them easily
in the previous installations of OEM BMW keyless remote entry units. Is there any
possibility that MY car doesn't have a prewired connector as stated? Should I take it
to the dealer w/ the glove box out and let them try to find it? I'm over trying to
find it.

TIA

Evan

The connector should be taped back against the main harness at the firewall.

It may be totally covered in tape, making it hard to spot.

anything that resembles a connector.
> Where the heck do could this connector be? I've taken a couple of pix of
what I saw with the glove boxes opened up w/ a connector included and one on
the '97 that's void of a connector. If anyone knows what's up w/ this please
contact me off line with a remedy. I'll be happy to send the pix that show the
entire gutted out box w/ the wiring connections.....minus the one for the
keyless entry on the '97.

Gary:

True! I think it was Kip Thorne or Lev Landau (one of
the physics people should be able to set me right on
this!) who carried around a list of 10 important
questions in physics in his pocket for potential
graduate students. I think Landau also carried around
a set of questions or something called the Landau
Minimum that students had to 'pass'.

Sir Peter Medawar, said the same thing, when he said
that an investigation into why half of sea anemone
eggs have black dots on them is of importance to only
the person investigating why the other half do not.

I am told that brake lines are tested to 4500 psi
though the operating pressure is 1500 psi max. When I
did power steering testing, those systems reached
1300-1400 psi before the relief valve cut in (what you
hear when you max out the steering).

Your car should be pre wired. All E36 were pre wired except the very first
ones.

Do you have a good photo of the area? Email it to me directly.
