E36 wheels have an offset of 40mm, +/- 4mm depending on style, width,
and manufacturer.

Correct E34 offset is 20mm, with some rears going as far as 26mm,
once again depending on style, width, and manufacturer.
You can use a 15m-25mm spacer (preferably the style that bolts to the
hub, and then the wheel bolts to the spacer).

Keep in mind this is not an ideal situation; if the E36 wheels you
love were free, then you might try it. But if you are considering
buying a set of wheels, you should reconsider and find E34-compatible
wheels.

Wrong offset-it will not work-the e34 takes a much lower offset wheel.

Sandwich a 15 mm spacer between them. Use the correct lug bolts for your
situation.

Good spacers and the bolts add up to a fair amount of money. Factor that
into the equation.

Buy good quality spacers.

Hello group,

I need control arms for an '87 325is. Can people recommend parts sources they use?
(shipping is usually much less than the bay area dealer mark up) If you have these
parts -new- feel free to send me an email directly to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and include an
estimate of ground/3 day shipping. I would like to have them by the end of the week.

Also I heard that while I am doing this I should use delrin offset bushings. Anyone
have sources or thoughts on this?

Thanks, Drew

due to a recent job change, i've moved to NYC and was fortunate enough to be
able to bring my E30 325is with me. does anyone familiar with the area know
of any good twisty roads near the city where i could "exercise" my car?

i'd also appreciate any suggestions on the following items:

- - reputable independent garages
- - DIY options (no garage here like i had in TX)
- - DE events in the area
- - worthwhile BMW club events in the area

A typical E36 wheel has an offset of ~46mm; your car takes wheels with an
offset of ~20mm. Therefore you'll need ~25mm spacers. Make sure they're
hubcentric. You'll also need longer wheel bolts. Check out
http://www.gmpperformance.com/products/wheels_tires/spacers.htm.

Evan

If you think you might get rubbing in the rear, you
can go with a smaller spacer in the rear.

I just sold the e36 wheels that were on my e28. They
were 16x8 et35. I had a 17mm spacer in front and no
spacer in back. No rubbing anywhere, no fender
rolling/trimming at all.

On the e34, chances are you can run a 15mm spacer on
all 4 corners and get no rubbing, but I wouldn't know
from personal experience!

Drew,

I just priced some Lemforder arms from various places,
and it looks to me like Steve D'G has some of the best
prices. It probably doesn't hurt that I hear he has
top notch service, as well.

David, I'm sure there are other ways, but if all else fails, try this:

Melt down the E36 wheels to molten alloy.

Pour the molten alloy into a mold in the shape of your favorite E34 wheels.

Precision machine the lug and center openings and mounting surface.

Paint and/or polish to taste.

OK, maybe that isn't the most practical solution, but it works.
