Back in the late '80s, a certain Bay Area-based BMW-type car club (hey, I'm not naming names) decided to hold our first Autocross Top Driver Shootout. At the time, we thought it was important that everyone drive the same car. So a couple of the guys went to the airport and rented cars - a Taurus and a Thunderbird (the big heavy kind). We were trying to take 3 runs per person in each car. Before 20 people had driven each car, the front tires on the T-Bird were corded. The Taurus was doing a little better - the tires were not yet quite corded. We decided not to push our luck, and the cars were returned. For the rest of the day, we just did fun runs in our BMWs. I had ordered ATE and got Girlingunits. Is there any difference wrt quality? Are they really the same even though Girling isconsiderably cheaper? My car originally had Girlings and I put ATEs on from my wreck simplybecause I liked the things my wreck had. If it makes any difference the car does get tracked a few times a year and I use the brakes hard on the street. A couple summers ago, while I was in college, I did some autocrossing with the Michiana Chapter in South Bend, IN. The President of the chapter (Mike Woody) had quite a few cars: '88 M3, ~'86 735i, older 911 at home. Great driver, getting FTD many times, even when up against turbo 911s. His wife had a mid-90s Plymouth Voyager. Right after lunch one day, we were all standing around awaiting instruction for the afternoon, and Woody's wife shows up with the kids. She gets to talking to someone else, and Mike heads for the Voyager. Needless to say, I've never seen a minivan lean so much in my life. Wife was not amused ;) What's worse is I think he beat my times... But, I've had difficulty getting my posts to come through on the digest and can't get through to the moderator. (For some reason, the email address for the moderator - the one at the bottom of each digest - is bouncing back.) Here's the problem, about half the time, my posts just don't seem to go through. I never get any type of system error or returned mail message. But, if I resend them (a day or so later, after confirming that they really did disappear), I have been able to successfully post the same message with no change whatsoever. I've got two theories: the moderator hasn't gotten to them (maybe their is a prioritization scheme to the moderation process) or something that I am doing is causing them to disappear (e.g., sending messages in HTML). Anyone have any ideas on the source of the trouble? I have not driven the car. Maintained well. Motivated seller, please contact Greg directly (info below). Thanks, tf. - ------------------------------------------ I have to sell my BMW and quickly. 1999 323i, silver/black leather interior, 49k miles. VIN to be posted in update. CD, moonroof, airbags, power windows and locks In beautiful shape with low mileage for the year (49k). Interior is perfect except the velcro which keeps the floor mats in place needs to be replaced. Exterior clean, no scratches or nicks except the following: A ding on the back bumper. A ding on the roof (overweight acorn). Door ding (on right side panel). Mechanicals perfect with regular oil changes. Minor front left accident about three months ago. Completely repaired by BMW of Fairfax. Expensive (of course) but not serious enough to deploy airbag. It lists at $21,500 but I am willing to sell for exactly what I owe on the loan--$18,900 to the first available buyer. A change of life's circumstances are forcing me to sell, otherwise I'd love to keep on driving it. I would like to make this sale quickly, if not painlessly (I'll miss it greatly). I appreciate your time. Greg Werkheiser Cellular: 703-408-2002 [EMAIL PROTECTED] __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Is this something you're outsourcing? Can I ship the whole fuel rail, or just individual injectors? What's the turnaround time. My high-mileage E28 is giving symptoms of vacuum leaks and slightly leaky injectors (hard start, especially 10 min. after shutoff, low idle, gas vapor smell). I think the injector O-rings have finally given up. The car will be in Indiana parked for a month this summer while I am abroad. Any information is welcome!
