Battery. Stock batteries go at 5-year intervals.

And if you could find a C coupe with a manual, for those in hilly country
it would then exhibit its NEXT worst feature, the lack of a hand-operated
parking brake.

Doh! I shoulda remembered that one. Thanks for the assist, Mark.

I replaced the battery on the '98 M3 recently. Within one month of the
5-year anniversary of it's production date (4/98). Like clockwork, those
BMW batteries :-)

Personally I like the Zymol system.

The soap does not affect the wax and the wax lasts forever on my M3.

Yes, it's expensive but I don't use that much of it to make a difference.

I don't wax nearly as often as recommended and I still get a good shine and
water beading

I've been using Sonax Gloss Shampoo for a few years. Very happy with it.

I get it from Car Care Specialties (http://www.carcareonline.com/), along
with most all of my car care supplies. Great prices & service.

Hope that helps,

Hi David,

Good luck on your trip to Quebec.. On average, the price of gas is about
$0.10 higher than here in Ontario, so you are looking at about 0.79 - 0.82
cents a liter for premium, and about 0.10 less for regular. there are 3.8
liters in a gallon, and I will let you do the rest of the math with
conversion of currency and such..

As for restaurants, if your budget is ok, there are a few really nice
restaurants in the old quarter of the city.. I cant remember the name off
the top of my head and I will have to ask the better half, but there was
this one place in the old quarter, a bistro, where I had the best Prime Rib
in my life, and the service, and wine selection were amazing.. If I get the
name to you, and you go.. Try the carpaccio in the appetizer section.. I
will never forget the place.. A nice stroll through the old quarter is not
that strenuous and it reminds one of walking through Paris.. cobble stone
roads and such.. Also take a ride on a handsome cab (horse and buggy) they
take you through the old quarter and its a nice leisurely ride. As far as
lodging, I am thinking you have that covered..

Thats about all I can think of, but there is plenty you will run across to
do..
Great place..

Cheers

Would appreciate any input on recommendations for a cat back system for an E30, '87
325is. I prefer something loud; of course
inexpensive is a plus. Durablity lasting 3-5 years would be good.

TIA

Removing the exhaust system behind the cat fulfills all 3 of your
requirements.

I've got a set of Hoosier Wets (Motorola Cup tires) size 225/45-15 that I'm
not going to use. Never mounted, best offer.
These have the same tire construction as the R3S03 tires. I recall being
told that the compound is the same too, but others have told me that the Wet
compound is softer than the R3S03. Regardless, the Wets obviously have a
much deeper tread.

Group,

My OBC temperature feature (88 M6) has now started reading one of two
external temperatures: -22F or -30F. Has the temperature probe by the
foglight gone bad? Any help would be appreciated.

I used to work in a detail shop and we ran across this all the time.

Basically, wash everything.

- - ashtry and under the support bracket where the smoke drifts up.
- - especially the headliner - smoke rises and the odor soaks in
- - wash the carpets
- - wipe down every single surface...under stuff, over stuff, you name it.
- - air the car out for a couple days

It's not hard really and you can get the smoke out. Just a little labor
intensive. :)

Subject: [uuc] AC follow-up & questions

I tried sending this yesterday but never saw it come through - apologies if
it's a duplicate:

I posted a couple weeks back about my '94 325i's marginal AC performance. I
made my first attempt at adding some refrigerant today - figured I might as
well try that first. I bought a charge hose with a little gauge on it and
followed the directions with it since Bentley doesn't say much about
charging. The gauge has a little blue zone that is defined as acceptable,
and ranges from 25 to 45 psi. I added a couple cans of refrigerant and
wound up at about 35psi and left it at that. A couple of questions:

- - does anyone know what the ideal pressure is for my system?

- - the instructions said to run the system on max cool during the procedure.
This resulted in the refrigerant emptying verrrry slowly. Seemed to
actually stop, if I'm not mistaken. When I turned the fan setting down and
the compressor shut off for a second, the bottle emptied pretty much
immediately. Am I supposed to leave the compressor running and just wait
all afternoon? What is the recommended procedure here?

For now I'm just waiting for the next 80+ degree day to see the improvement.

Thanks for any advice,
Chris B.
