I wonder how you get mistakes taken off that crap. Says the car was involved in an accident, which it was not. [EMAIL PROTECTED]@%#!#@@[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED] I did at one point run off the road into some mud & needed to be pulled out, but the car suffered no damage other the splash shield which I replaced. It didn't need to be replaced, but one part was cracked out so I fixed it. Damage was reported as minor & would cost over $500. Hmmmmm....let's see $48 for the parts & about 1 hour to put them in (ok, so most people would've had to pay for the labor). Again @[EMAIL PROTECTED]@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Now I have to explain to a prospective buyer that CARFAX is full of freakin' crap. Since so many uneducated folks use it as the gospel, I'm prolly screwed out of at least $2000 bucks on sale price. Anyway, here's the link if any of you are interested....... http://beta.kpix.com/xtra/focus/shopping/used_cars.html It's the full CARFAX report, not just the crappy little promo "CARFAX has found 11 things you should know about...." It's only good through tomorrow, so get on it. I'm using a open trailer, which with the M3 loaded on it totals about 4,500 - 5,000 lbs. I recently switched to radial trailer tires and the max pressure as labeled on the tire is 50 psi. The Tire Rack guys couldn't help me as they said they don't sell a lot of trailer tires. The trailer came with bias tires originally (one of which blew out on the way to the Glen a couple of weeks ago). I had been running 41 psi in those as recommended by the trailer dealer, but suspect that may have been a bit low. Any recommendations? The only worthy modification I know is >the change the program to alter the thresholds, peak decel, etc. Mike mentioned the car runs in ITS, per IT rules you have to disable the ABS system. A lot of folks cheat and install a switch but I believe the rules are written so that it is permanently disabled (i.e. remove the ABS rings from the hubs). I know this gives the E36 fits as Will Turner had a lot of braking problems a few years ago in World Challenge (no ABS allowed either, at least at the time). Mike, in the Bentley is there anything about adjusting the brake pedal height? The E30 is on a threaded rod and a clevis much like a racing overhung pedal system except this is only using one master cylinder, the Bentley outlines how to adjust it and the actual measurement from the firewall to the brake pedal. It greatly affects the pedal feel as well, anywhoo just throwing out suggestions. But alas, the next offering will instead probably be BMW teaming up with Peterbilt. Remove the low-revving diesel, drop in BMW turbofan power, add a few Bangle lines & curves, add some medium sized retro rockets for yaw control, cornering enhancement, etc. They'll probably still manage to cut the headroom down far enough so that I can't drive it. - -- "It is an honor to be Cookie Monster." -Sesame Street spokeswoman Audrey Shapiro ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 30 Jul 2003 09:09:51 -0700 (PDT) From: Michael Turgeon <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: [uuc] [e36] Troubleshooting ABS brake system Apparently, there are a few questions I missed. > Gary wrote: > >What did the PO do to modify the ABS? The PO did not modify the ABS per se (well not excatly true, but If you really want to know contact me privately, as I believe it is not relevant to this issue), rather the brake system was modified with the addition of a bias adjuster for the rear brakes. As I understand the operation of such, they only remove pressure from the rear brakes. It is my understanding that the stock system with the ABS unit attached has a porportioning valve for setting the rear brake bias. Consequently, adding a bias adjuster will take away pressure from the factory setting. Not what I want. I want as much rear brake as I (or the car) can handle. So we removed the bias adjuster and put the lines back to stock. Still the problem remains. All true. However, I need to find out what is wrong before I disable the system (wait a minute, it does not function, therefore it is disabled, right?). > Mike, in the Bentley is there anything about > adjusting the brake pedal > height? >From what I can determine on an E36 there is no adjustment available. There is a clevis on the E36. Updating may work. Carlos, could you copy the pages of the Bentley E30 which show this and fax or email to me I would appreciate it. From the initial post, it appears that the tires are trailer tires so I'd recommend the maximum allowable inflation pressure. Otherwise follow Gary's advice about passenger car tires on a trailer. As for a tire exploding during use, that's just one of the joys of trailer ownership (along with intermittent lights). Since the trailer is far removed from the tow vehicle and the tires are usually more outboard of the tow vehicle, they're subject to a myriad of debris that the tow vehicle doesn't encounter. Check your tires at every stop - look for signs of damage and tread separation. - --- Gary Derian <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Tire size? Loaded trailer weight?
