Wow, all that for a crappy stock stereo. Maybe they
wanted to build in the ability to upgrade?

Actually, the power required increases with the cube of the speed. It
takes 27 times more power to go 90 mph than it does to go 30 mph.
Pretty scary huh?

Nope.

The wire in the harness is not capable of "great" sound. Only average. The
reason for the weight is that they insist on putting the individual
components as far away from each other as possible within the confines of a
vehicle.

Group,

OK - Here's what I'd like to do, but I need someone's
help to know if it can be done.

I'd like to remove the climate control unit from the
center console, but retain the full blast front
defroster wired to a toggle switch. Is this possible
to do, and if so, how?

Thanks,

Neil

Anyone else going to the SCDA track event at NHIS on Tues/Weds Aug 12 and
13th? I think the beginner slots are filled on the 12th, but advanced slots
are available, and the 13th is open for all groups. I'll be there. Lots
and lots of track time for a reasonable price, and best part, NO CORNER
WORKING! No standing out in turn 5 under the August sun!

For more info, contact Ian Prout at [EMAIL PROTECTED], or check out
www.scda1.com.

Come on, it'll be fun!

Gruppe,

Planning on replacing the diff cover gasket on the E30 M3 this weekend,
I've looked in archives of many lists and couldn't find the torque specs
for the cover bolts. Anyone have these?

Also what's the difficulty level of replacing the output flange seals?
I believe one of mine is seeping, should probably take care of that at the
same time.

I can see it now, a V8 powered 3900 lb M3.
And a 4300 lb V10 M5.

I wish they would finally build the 1 series and put a high
revving 4 cylinder engine in it and call it the M1.5 :-)

They have, the new E60 5 series is lighter than the E39. Of course, big
engine, big brakes, big tires do add up.

Sees to be the trend.....make 'em fatter & fatter. I'm really surprised
there aren't auto M cars, aside from the E36's.

Better yet, an ~300hp turbo 4 in something with a sub-3000lb fighting
weight. The closer to 2500 the better. Price it around $30k & go right
after the Japanese AWD duo........Of course, the marketing guys at MINI may
go ape$h!t......

Subject: [uuc] [e36] Troubleshooting ABS brake system

Gruppe:

If anyone has any experience troubleshooting the ABS
system on a 93 325iS please contact me.

Briefly, this is in a race car which had the brake
system modified by a previous owner, but I was
experiencing problems, i.e. unpredictable front lock
up. So we are trying to return the system to stock
for a baseline. Almost all of lines have been
replaced. A couple of gallons of brake fluid have
been flushed through the system.

THE PROBLEM: The pedal is very low (think about an
inch or two off the floor), but the brakes work.
However, I cannot heel-toe at all! My foot is
actually under the gas pedal and there is no hope for
trying to blip the throttle.

I pulled the ABS box and all circuits inside look
fine, i.e. nothing obviously burnt.

The ABS pump will run when I jump the relay.

The master cylinder and booster look fine from the
outside.

No leaks in the system have been detected yet.

Any help or direction would be appreciated. I do have
the Bentley and am trying to use the wiring diagrams
to help diagnose.

BTW, I won a race in ITS two weekends ago, just didn't
use the brakes much?!?

TIA,
Mike
