Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Best one of these stories I have heard. A friend of a friend dropped his car off a the dealer (some GM make, I think) for some simple repair. Being now car-less, he rode to lunch with a co-worker. They chose a local Captain D's - he sees a car that looks like his in the parking lot. He looks in the window and sees 4 mechanics from the dealership sitting at a table eating lunch. He tries his spare key on the car - yep it is his, so he drives it to another restaurant for lunch and then back to work. Then he waits for the dealership to call to inform him his car was stolen - then he gets to rip them a new one :-) An employee of a local Honda dealer was out joy riding in my Civic years ago - I caught him (running out to get something to eat with a co-worker). He was fired, but they didn't offer me any discount off of the service - I got a "we are sorry". I always note the mileage any time I drop off a car (or motorcycle) for service so I will know if they are driving it or not. When I had a 'vette it always seemed to get the most "Test drive" miles. With a OBC you should reset the average speed and MPG when you drop it off as well. Then if they do a road test you might get some idea of what kind of "test" they did. Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Chris, I'm not saying what happened to you was right, but you seem to have challenged us to come up with an explanation, so here's my version. The kid who usually washes the dealership's cars was so pissed about not getting a raise that he quit his job and took the hose in protest. In order to test the door gasket repair, they had to take the car through a car wash. The nearest car wash was 13 miles away. Do let us know if the service manager actually comes up with a story like this.
