From my experience with over 300 eBay purchases, unless your seller
requests a signature for delivery, they will leave a crushed package
on your doorstep.
USPS seems to be the "sneakiest" ……. I've received decorative glass
decanters that were crushed and their package looked like a truck ran
over it in my mailbox... ( the postperson *KNEW* that it was damaged …
hard to hide the sound of broken glass ).
So always ask for signatures and make sure that anyone receiving your
package makes the UPS, FedEx. or USPS delivery person watch you open
the package if there is any doubt that the package arrived damaged.
Even so, ask them to watch as the package is opened so they can't say
that the contents were improperly packed. Get their name and truck
number or license plate and record the time .. If they will, have them
sign a piece of paper attesting to the damage so they won't forget
days later ( they deliver a lot of packages and memories being sort
and selective ).
Most of my packages arrive perfect, but that one bad experience isn't
worth the small expense of getting a delivery signature.

The guy also asked if I was asking for shipping costs to be
refunded, and I said yes, of course.
I told him the claim that it wasnt damaged in shipment was
ludicrous. I didnt bring it to the shipping counter trashed, but it
arrived trashed, so it didnt take a genius to know it was trashed
during shipment. He said that that came from the claim inspector,
and seemed to be saying he was in a different department, claims
payment.
So, anyway, I have a copy of the check the buyer sent me, which I
got from my bank. And, I went onto Ebay and printed off a listing
for an HA 350 showing what the asking price was, which was about
three times what I sold mine for.
He said even another receiver that wasnt the same as mine would
serve as a comparable, but luckily there was a 350 up for bid.
So, I'll fax all this to them and see if they will follow through
and pay. I dont see why they'd be asking for all of the information
if they weren't going to pay now.
