Setting EnableBalloonTips to zero fixed this problem. Now trying to figure out why: a) the remote computer loses the internet connection all of a sudden. b) when the internet is back (doing an ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew), BOINC won't make internet connections without us needing to log off/log back on in Windows or restarting the computer.
