Hello Maureen,

We removed it because we want to phase out the V5 clients, and users
would be more inclined to use a V5 client if it is shown on the
download_all page, even though it is marked as an older version.

We have now also removed the 5.10.45 and 5.8.16 versions for Linux
for the same reason. We are leaving version 5.8.16 up for Windows
only because it is the last version to run on Windows 95 and NT4.0.

But you don't need to refer such users to the Index of d/l; they can
download this version directly by just entering this URL into their
browser:
<http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_5.10.45_macOSX_universal.zip>

When I want to have an alpha tester or other user download a version
that is not on the download_all page, I just send them the
corresponding direct URL like the one above.

I'm puzzled why the user needs to revert to BOINC 5, or how he could
get versions 5 and 6 mixed up, especially since the Client is
embedded in the Mac Manager and so they are installed as a unit.
Also, the Mac installer for any version of BOINC should replace all
the components (Manager, embedded Client, and screensaver.)

Cheers,
--Charlie
