I believe that exactly such a computer is still in existence at CPDN in
Oxford. It was originally used to calibrate CPDN's credits against SETI
which had joined Boinc earlier. Credits have been kept at that level apart
from a 5% increase to compensate for some WUs that disappeared into a black
hole.

As you can see from the Boinc combined credits comparison page (
http://boinc.netsoft-online.com/e107_plugins/boinc/get_cpcs.php) this system
has worked admirably. There is now *one project* offering fewer credits than
CPDN.

Perhaps someone knows how this computer could be cloned and the clones
distributed to all projects before it expires and needs to be repaired?
