I just went through some accumulated Recent Changes in the BOINC user
wiki (mediawiki). There was some spam remaining, which I reverted, and
a lot more that was already reverted (much by Eric Myers, some even by
anonymous contributors without accounts) but I blocked the users/IPs
which they can't do.
We *need* better spam protection. I just tried adding an external link
without being logged in, and it told me to solve 92 - 8. Account
creation has the same kind of protection. Either spambots know how to
solve it, or the spam is being added manually by humans ("work from
home" schemes?).
By the way, if you make changes to the content, please *log in*. I
once reverted a change by an anonymous user, thinking it was
vandalism, since it added a config flag that didn't exist. It turned
out to be one of the main BOINC developers, who committed a code
change adding that config flag immediately afterwards.
