You should be able to:
1. Install the version of BOINC you desire on a computer.
2. Copy the contents of the executable directory (C:\Program
Files\BOINC) to the root of the flash drive
Next you'll need to delete the registry entries the installer and the
manager use:
HKLM\Software\Space Sciences Laboratory, U.C. Berkeley\BOINC Setup
HKCU\Software\Space Sciences Laboratory, U.C. Berkeley\BOINC Manager
HKCU\Software\Space Sciences Laboratory, U.C. Berkeley\BOINC
Screensaver
I recall there was an /a option in the installer (or in msiexec) to
just extract the files without performing a full installation (doesn't
touch registry or user accounts). Does that still work?

I don't think this is what you want; it will make it impossible to
switch to Advanced view.
BOINC always starts in Simple View when first installed. But once it
has run, it remembers the last view selected by the user and starts
in that view. Does this not meet your needs?
Yes, this is OK for us.
[2] From your message it is unclear whether you want the USB stick to
have :
(a) a BOINC installer which runs automatically, or
(b) BOINC itself (Manager and Client) already installed on the
stick.
If (b), then do you want all of BOINC's data to also reside on the
stick? Also, the BOINC installer normally sets a number of values in
the Windows registry; if you want (b) we'll need to determine whether
BOINC needs to be modified to run without those registry settings.
We want (b). Boinc should be completely installed on the USB stick and
run from there. At least this was possible with version 5.x. I have
this
version on a nfs network drive and start it from various computers,
which never before had any Boinc installation. We want to place a
account_<project>.xml with the weak account key in the Boinc folder.
This should be used by Boinc to download WUs from the project and run
them.
[3] What is your time frame for having this (i.e., when do you need
it)?
We have no special time line for it. We just working on it and want to
provide it as download on our homepage.
Cheers,

Hello,
I want to create a USB stick which runs Boinc (Windows and Linux)
automatic if the USB stick is inserted and attaches automatic to an
weak
account key of our team in a predefined project. So far this is
working
but I have 2 problems:
1) Boinc always starts in the advanced view and not in the simple
view.
How to ensure, that Boinc starts with the simple view?
2) How to run Boinc by default with an different skin? Boinc should
run
with the skin of our team. I a skin/our_team folder in the Boinc
directory with the complete skin. I'm als able to select this skin in
Boinc preferences. But how to enable this skin by default?
Kind Regards,
yoyo
