getaddrinfo is supported as of 2000. inet_pton is supported in Vista and later.

A couple of years ago we started using IPV6-compatible network APIs such as inet_pton() and getaddrinfo(). However, we don't use these on Windows because they're not in XP. Also, the client doesn't currently create an IPV6 listening socket for GUI RPCs.
