Why is there no validation if the country that a user enters in his account
is a valid country? The XML export is filled with bogus countries, to name
a few: Mars, Idaho, madrid, valencia, Cote d\'Ivoire (notice the
backslash), german etc.
In addition some countries are present in different languages
(Germany-Alemania, United-States-Estados Unidos) or with different
spellings (Viet Nam-Vietnam, Holy See-Vatican City State-Holy See-"Holy See
(Vatican City)) etc.

I have over a 100 lines of code to fix all these differences, but it keeps
getting more and more, and with people entering cities as country I'll have
to build a database linking cities to countries.

In short: please normalize the user-input for countries, validate it before
putting it in the database instead of blindly accepting what the user
entered.

Willy.
