The Git repo hasn't been updated in a few weeks. As far as I know it is
a script that can be executed on demand. Oliver was previously executing
the script manually. Right now it is one way, I have heard it can work
the other way as well, but I don't know how well that works.

We don't have a date in mind yet, we don't have all the SSH keys we need
yet to convert over to it. I think Oliver and I are the only two at
present that can push repo changes to the central Git repo.

I don't think the SVN repo is going to go away quite that soon. More is
contained within it than just the BOINC stuff, so when we do convert
over to it, the BOINC stuff will just be marked ready-only.

Subject: Re: [boinc_dev] Git Migration Status

How far behind the svn repository is the git repository? How often/when
are changes to one merged to the other? Is it one way only (svn->git)
at this point? Is there an estimated date for turning svn off?

Howdy Folks,

We have fixed most/all the issues that have been raised regarding the
Git repos on the BOINC server. You can find information about the Git
repos here:
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/git/

Instructions for cloning the Git repos can be found here:
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/SourceCodeGit

Instructions for installing Git on Windows can be found here:
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/SourceCodeGit/Windows

Oliver did a great job of summarizing the repo changes:
I kept boinc.git and boinccleaned.git at the same revision to facilitate
testing/scrutinizing. The cleaning included:

- svn author mapping (best effort)
- partial commit message cleaning (SVN UUID removal)
- removal of curl/icu/openssl/zlib binaries from history

Testers want to focus on these things, in particular the last, most
invasive step.

As a general reminder about the migration so far:

- independent SVN projects got separated into dedicated repos
- branches and tags have been cleansed (obsolete stuff removed)

Thanks in advance.
