This will be inevitably suboptimal because of the lack of proper threading: most people use "reply to thread" instead of "reply to post". Especially because the web forum doesn't show the thread level clearly. Some people also reply to multiple messages from other people in a single message. A second problem is message editing. Does NNTP support modifying or replacing messages once clients already downloaded them?
