Well, you could try using the structured exception handling primitives: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/s58ftw19(v=vs.80).aspx
Although, I am surprised that switching on the compiler switch to convert SEH exceptions to C++ exceptions didn't work. BOINC's exception handler is a last ditch effort kind of a thing using the SetUnhandledExceptionFilter API(diagnostics.cpp:163): http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms680634(v=vs.85).aspx Without that in place, the next thing Windows will do is throw up a dialog asking the volunteer if they want to report the crash to Microsoft. 30-40 of those in a night and the volunteers will get upset in a hurry. ----- Rom -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Raistmer the Sorcerer Sent: Tuesday, February 19, 2013 2:53 AM To: Robert Miles Cc: [email protected] Subject: Re: [boinc_dev] boinc_finish(0) crash elimination Failure inside boinc_finish(0); call. stderr has line that printed just before this call and has not line that printed inside this function. Te main question is: why try/catch(..) block around this call can't intercept exeption? What should I change to disable BOINC's own exception handler (cause it leads to computational error reporting) and handle this exception in my own code ?
