One final minor suggestion :-) If you provide verbose/multi-line commit messages, please use a subject/body format. That means: 1) use a single brief line as "subject" 2) followed by an empty line 3) then the bulk (or "body") of your message This is very helpful for GUIs and web interfaces where commits are presented in lists. Only the "subject" line will appear in those lists making them easy to digest. The "body" will of course be shown when you look at the commit details.
