TURIN, Italy: Pietro Rava, the last remaining member of Italy's 1938 World
Cup winning soccer team, has died. He was 90.
The former Juventus defender, who had been ill for some time, died Sunday in
a Turin hospital where he was recovering after a leg operation, Juventus
said.
Rava also won a gold medal with the Azzurri at the 1936 Olympics and the
Serie A title with Juventus in 1950 before coaching several Italian clubs,
including Sampdoria and Palermo.
Juventus players will wear black armbands in honor of the former captain at
Monday's game against Napoli.
