Juventus Win Serekunda East League Trophy

Juventus FC of Tallinding last night claimed the 2006 Serekunda East title
after coming behind to beat Abuko United 2-1.
In a well attended and competed game, Abuko United first opened the scores
in the 26th minute through Cherno Njie, who received a well calculated pass
from Omar Gibba.
But Juventus fought back and got the equalizer in the 38th minute through
Amara Cole from a rebound on the Goalkeeper.
The First half ended 1 -1 at the joy of supporters of both teams.
Both teams tried to win the ball in the second half by using long ball but
the defenders watched carefully.
The turning point of the final occurred in the 74th minute when Sainey Gibba
netted the winning goal for Juventus.
Abuko United tried to come back in the game but it was too late for them.
At the end of the game Juventus were awarded a trophy and a cash prize of
D20, 000 while Abuko United went home with D15, 000.
The final was attended by GFA second vice president Mass Axi Gai and the
Acting Mayor of KMC Francis Gomez among others.
The trophy was sponsored by Trust Bank Western Union.
In an exhibition match played before the final Serekunda East Sports
Committee defeated Gambia Sports Journalists Association 5-0.
