Oh please let's not throw everything public into one folder!
Traditionally one often uses separate folders for images, for
javascriopt and for css.
'imgs' or 'images' for all images used by the site system.
'scripts' or 'js' or 'javascript' for js files. you already got
a'scripts' folder in 'barn', so that is not  a perfect name for plugin
scripts. perhaps even 'plugscripts'.
And if there are any css files they would be in a skin folder somewhere.

But still there may be some plugins which have loads of files for public access.
Such plugin may need its own folder. i canm think of a second gui
plugin with its own bunch of icon images, which i would not like to
see mixed with the other ones....
