My plan at this point is to keep the [messages] a div and make the
[messages_id] a span. Though it might be best to somehow make these
both configurable, or something. The latter could change as it will be
a brand new feature and may need to be tweaked after everyone has had
a chance to take a look and make suggestions. I suppose you can style
either a span or div how you want, though there may be some
limitations.

As for messages, you have the option of putting it in the skin or in
the page. I generally put ==[if admin][messages][if]== in the skin and
then [messages] in the wiki where I want controlled user messages. Of
course now I'm liable to just use specific messages for users...
