Smoking is so horrible. I have to brag....that on Saturday it will be my 9
month anniversary as a non-smoker. Best thing I ever did was to quit. The
hardest thing...but the most rewardig. You are right Lauren, it is a
powerful addiction! I am just so happy with myself that it is gone now. For
the most part! I have gained about ten pounds since then....and I changed my
eating habits drastically to avoid a lot of weight gain. The truth is that
for me....I dont care if I have those extra ten pounds. I would rather have
them then that addiction. Plus, my doctor assured me that if I went back to
smoking that I wouldnt lose that weight. Smoking doesnt make you lose
weight. What happens is that when the nicotine is gone from your system you
start to gain weight. My doctor says that he doesnt think that the weight
gain is just about people eating more to keep themselves busy. he thinks
that there is somethign more to it.

It isn't healthy, it's disgusting and stinky and yet when I smoked I loved
smoking. Does that make sense? I didn't smoke for very long- only about 2
years, and I've been smoke free for about 7 years but I still finding myself
wanting one every now and then! Talk about a powerful addiction.

Yeah, it definitely isn't healthy. I'd always wondered why people smoked
until just recently. I thought it tasted nasty. But somehow, about two
months ago, I just started smoking out of the blue. I was up to a pack and
day and then, one morning I woke up, and I didn't feel the urge to smoke.
This lasted about a month and now I'm back to smoking even more. Hopefully,

I'll be able to quit soon though! And actually, it really hasnt helped me
lose any weight!
