I give up if the book or character really annoys me. Could be one page or most of the way through the book. I only struggle thru if the book is highly recommended or someone says the ending is worth reading.
I struggled with Animus for example as the end was at the beginning and I just wanted to see how he got the that point. Otherwise I really hated the book. It was a real struggle.
