For me, I kept wanting to read the Lord of the Rings, for YEARS. Everyone kept telling me, "but you MUST read The Hobbit first!", so obediently, I kept trying to finish it, but did not like it at all. So when the movies came out I thought, "Heck with it, I'll read LOTR now anyway". And as it turns out, the introduction in LOTR sums up the gist of The Hobbit, and I'm finding the LOTR (DH and I are most of the way through TTT now) to be a very much nicer read than The Hobbit was. guitarati (bookcrossing name) ------------------------ Yahoo!
