The $9 is their "special" rate if you sign up immediately.  The $19
will be inacted after that.  They leave the time limit undefined.

Since I've met a number of local Bookcrossers who have become good
friends, I see our gatherings as worthwhile.  It has become a social
booktrading event that I look forward to.

I must not be understanding something. The Meetup.com website says
the fee is $9.00. Is there an additional fee from somewhere else?
Either way, I think it's outrageous to start charging. I'd prefer to
have a meeting - without the "Benefit" of Meetup.com.

Of course, I talk big since I've never been to one, nor found it a
productive way to spend my time.
