Subject: Re: [BookCrossing] HELP
  What is the browser?
It's the computer program you use to access the Internet. I was
wondering if it may be causing you to have problems using the BC site.

You might need to clean a few things to get your browser (ex: Internet
Explorer 6.0, Netscape, etc...) working a little better.

If your operating system is Windows (ex: Windows 95 or Windows XP, etc...)
then try the following steps, it's just something basic you should do from time
to time.

On your computer's main screen (desktop) click these open in the following
order:
start, settings, control panel, internet options.
Once you have Internet Options open click on the tab on top that says General.
Under that you will see different sections such as temporary internet files
and history.
Now, you want to click each of these one at a time:
delete cookies, delete files (if it asks you if you should delete offline
content click yes), and clear history.

Here, next to the clear history button, you can also set the number of days
you want to keep pages in history. This is how many days worth of information
you are storing on your computer regarding the different web sites pages you
visit. For example: If you go to Bookcrossing and click on 10 different pages
there, all 10 pages are stored in your history. You can access the pages later
if you want to by clicking the histoy button on the toolbar at the top of the
screen while you are connected to the internet. A long list will drop down.
Honestly though, how often do you need to pull up a web page you were on 3
weeks ago? The problem is if you have your "days to keep history" set at a
high number (I think the default setting is 30) then you are storing a lot of
useless info for no reason. I would recommend setting this number low and
coming back in on a regular basis to delete the cookies and files.

So try this and then go back to Bookcrossing and then see if you can register
and change the info on your books.

  Good luck,

  Sandra
